About Project Freedom
Q: What is Project Freedom Service Ltd?
A: Project Freedom is a registered Australian not-for-profit organization committed to delivering inclusive boating adventures for people living with disabilities.
Q: What is your mission?
A: Our mission is to provide freedom, dignity, and adventure to people who have historically been excluded from maritime experiences.
Donations
Q: Is my donation tax deductible?
A: At this stage, donations are not tax-deductible. We are actively working toward Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status with the Australian Taxation Office.
Q: Where do the funds go?
A: Donations are securely held in our charity account and used solely for the construction, operation, and delivery of safe, inclusive boating experiences for people living with disabilities.
Q: Can I get a receipt?
A: Yes! Every donor will receive a receipt for their contribution.
Safety and Operations
Q: How is safety ensured on board?
A: Our vessel is built to Australian Survey standards, with a gyroscopic stabilizer for smooth rides, wheelchair anchor points, advanced first aid kits, a defibrillator, CCTV monitoring, and highly trained staff with commercial marine licenses and Cert III qualifications in Disability and Aged Care.
Q: Who operates the vessel?
A: A commercially licensed Skipper and qualified support crew manage each voyage.
Boat Details
Q: Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes. The boat is custom-designed for wheelchair accessibility and comfort.
Q: What features does the boat have?
A: Gyroscopic stabilizer, accessible seating, secure wheelchair anchor points, marine-grade safety equipment, advanced first aid kit, and live CCTV monitoring.
Participation
Q: Who can participate?
A: Our services are open to individuals living with disabilities, their families, carers, and community support groups.
Q: Can NDIS participants join?
A: Yes! We welcome plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants. Bookings will be open soon.
Transparency and Governance
Q: Are you audited?
A: Yes. As a registered charity, Project Freedom undergoes financial reviews and complies with all reporting requirements of the ACNC.
Q: Can I request financial reports?
A: Yes. We believe in full transparency. Our reports are available on request.
Fundraising and Goals
Q: How much do you hope to raise?
A: Our current fundraising goal is $340,000 to complete the construction, safety fit-out, and launch of Australia's first custom-built inclusive vessel for people with disabilities.
Q: What happens if you don't reach your goal?
A: Every dollar raised will still be used to deliver Project Freedom’s mission. If the full amount is not achieved, funds will be applied toward vessel construction, equipment acquisition, and accessible boating operations within the available budget.
Maritime Safety and Compliance
Q: Are you following official maritime regulations?
A: Yes. Project Freedom’s vessel will be registered under Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and Transport for NSW guidelines. The boat will be operated under a Domestic Commercial Vessel survey and a formal Certificate of Operation (COO).
